Behind the Design is a series of design stories where we share the inspiration and insights behind our projects. Every project is unique, with specific design drivers and partner goals. The purpose of this series is to invite you on the design journey showing research, concepts, and the completion.
The first project we have selected is the Wounded Warrior Home Project. With advancements in battlefield medicine and body armor, an unprecedented percentage of service members are surviving severe wounds or injuries. Many of these soldiers wish to remain on active duty. MGA&D was commissioned by Clark Realty Capital to transform housing for the increasing number of Wounded Warriors at Fort Belvoir, by re-examining the design of accessible housing options.
