If a giant statue rises in the jungle . . .

Wall Street Journal reporter Gabriele Parussini provides an in-depth look at the design and construction of the 590-foot-high Statue of Unity.  The monument is a tribute to Vallabhbhai Patel, an important figure in the history of modern India during its independence from British Rule. India’s first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Patel is credited with having convinced over 500 individual princely states to join the new Indian nation.
