The New York City skyline is a storied place, full of towers where people live, work and play. MGA&D has been fortunate to design some of these, the most iconic of which is 425 Fifth Avenue, a quintessentially Manhattan experience inside and out. The 54-story mixed-use building contains retail, commercial offices and residential amenities in the base and 44 stories of apartments above. As the building rises, the changes in use align with mandated zoning setbacks, resulting in a stepped silhouette characteristic of traditional Manhattan skyscrapers.
Residents of the 175 apartments enjoy the best of living in New York. The building’s location at Fifth Avenue and East 38th Street gives them easy access to some of the most popular attractions in the City. From the moment they enter the building — from its own vest-pocket park – they experience a sense of luxury, starting with the elliptical lobby detailed in burled wood and marble. Best of all, from the upper levels, residents have protected views of the Empire State Building and other nearby towers.
