Named in honor of Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro, this 102,000 square foot, five-story school serves 616 students from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. The lobby features artwork by Sarah Beddington, commissioned by the NYC Department of Education and NYC School Construction Authority, Public Art for Public Schools Program, in collaboration with the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Percent for Art Program.

Human Focus
Since more families are deciding to raise children in the city, many new schools are being constructed on sites adjacent to housing developments. To reduce the noise associated with the playground, the playground was placed in front, so the building would act as a sound buffer.Innovation
With a program requiring a gym and an auditorium, but with a limited site in terms of square footage, the design features a 'gymatorium' that provides appropriate space for theatrical performances.
