New Build Charter School

Michael Graves has undertaken numerous projects for Zeta Charter Schools, mostly in Bronx, New York. 1325 Jerome Avenue, built adjacent to an elevated train track, houses Grades Pre-K to 2. A nearby, 73,000 SF companion building on Macombs Road contains instructional and recreational space for Grades 3-8. The project commenced with test fit programming to Zeta’s educational specifications before proceeding to full design services.

Zeta’s brand is reflected throughout the design. The Z-inspired graphics, large geometric patterns and signature bright colors, as well as the characteristic floating discs in the ceilings, were executed in conjunction with Zeta’s interior designer Jean Won Mosler.
