Always following trends in the kitchen, MGA&D spotted a product opportunity gap related to composting and approached Polder to solve it together. The result is a lightweight and portable design that allows the waste contents to be easily transferred into a larger, outdoor composter, simply by inverting the flexible silicone bin. Simple, elegant and never requiring hands to get dirty; the wire frame and silicone composter fits any décor and makes an elegant counter top statement. Never having to purchase and replace proprietary compost liners was also a strong consideration, thus always keeping the composter usable, active, and economical.
People trust that composting is worthwhile and until now, have accepted that it’s going to be a little stinky in the kitchen and a little messy to empty. MGA&D journey mapped consumer use and designed the ideal counter top composter that addresses each pain point along the way to rich soil.
Armed with their research findings, our designers came up with several features to include in the design that were simple, yet impactful. The flexible push-through silicone bucket inverts to empty contents without hands ever coming in contact with the food scraps. The non-stick interior surface rinses clean and is dishwasher safe. To help create rich compost, the adjustable airflow lid easily rotates to control just the right amount of ventilation necessary for proper decomposition and odor control.
