The 6-star St. Regis Cairo Hotel, within the Nile Corniche mixed-use development, combines contemporary elegance with regional traditions inside and out. Designed for sophisticated international travelers, the custom interiors richly interpret the cultural allure of Egypt for the St. Regis brand, with bespoke luxury and a sense of place. A gold-glass-tiled roof signals the two-story entry pavilion. A porte-cochere wrapping behind its elliptical plan leads to secure entrances to the hotel and its companion apartment tower. Within the pavilion, the 250,000-piece Swarovski crystal chandelier and the sweeping stair’s curving glass-block and bronze railing create a stunning introduction to the ballroom on the second level.
We designed the interiors of St. Regis Cairo understanding that guests value memorable experiences unique to the places they visit. From the custom wallcoverings with subtle papyrus patterns and inlayed wood cabinets in the guestrooms to glass light fixtures and stone patterns in the public spaces, the interiors subtly refer to the Egyptian context. The water garden near the hotel reception sets the tone for a beautiful, relaxing stay. The décor of food and beverage outlets –from the serene Asian restaurant to the bustling brasserie – similarly creates an ambiance that welcomes people from around the world.
The massing strategy – two towers rising above a podium — reflects the building’s several uses and maximizes views from the site at a bend in the Nile River. Tower 1 has rental offices at the base and apartments above. The hotel in Tower 2 sits above the podium that includes banquet facilities and ballroom on the first and second levels, and food and beverage outlets on the third. The fifth level contains the hotel lobby and reception, an indoor water garden, lounges, food and beverage outlets, a library and a world-class spa. The seventh level health club adjoins a landscaped pool terrace where guests enjoy the outdoors and panoramic views of the Nile.
