With the goal of differentiating the interiors of this new 50-room boutique hotel in the French Quarter, we looked to the local context for inspiration. Charleston has long been known for its wonderful gardens, including over 100 designed by the well-known landscape architect Loutrel Briggs over four decades beginning in the late 1920s.
At the center of the public interiors is the Verandah Lounge, which resembles a Southern porch moved inside, furnished with a porch swing and plentiful greenery. A large-scale mural by the local artist Linda Fantuzzo extends the interiors into an imagined landscape, merging indoors and outdoors to create a unique and memorable experience.
