The design team collaborated with Weller Development Company on the design of their new corporate headquarters at the City Garage building in Baltimore City. This unique tenant fit-out transformation project includes the conversion of an existing high-bay warehouse space of approximately 20,000 square feet into workplace and teaming environments. The newly renovated spaces include a blend of public and private areas, including flex and collaboration zones. Glass partition walls enclose offices and 4 conference rooms of varying sizes. Work benches make up a large open office work space, which is directly adjacent to a centralized copy area, kitchenette, large tables, and moveable soft-seating for community gathering. Directly off the main entry is the Sales Center, which includes a large video screen wall, soft seating for viewing presentations, wet bar, conference table, digital photo framed art pieces, and fully-integrated sound system.
In keeping with the style and aesthetic of the Weller Development brand, a combination of natural, raw materials and luxury modern elements were incorporated into the interior design, including a large logo wall at the main entrance constructed from metal sheets salvaged on site, original warehouse concrete floors that showcase the rugged nature of wear and tear over the years, repurposed wood plank wall panels, custom iron and glass light fixtures, hammered copper cabinet doors, and leather furniture. As the existing space had limited natural light on two sides, a large curtain wall was designed in the main sales room with views of the water, skylights were added to the high bay space, and motorized shades were incorporated for light control.
